Several senior centers are in need of packaged items and medical supplies.

Here’s one of them — feel free to post additional food drives in the “continue the discussion” button at the bottom of this page.

Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center, is requesting your assistance in collecting food items to continue our delivery of hot meals to seniors restricted to their homes. Currently, we are out of funding and requesting either a financial donation and/or your help with the donation of just one item.

Here's how it works: - on Monday, March 23rd, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, drive up to the front doors of the senior center and drop off one of the following items:

* can of chicken, turkey or tuna - a package of fresh/frozen chicken, beef or pork (every pkg adds up)
* can of soup - package of fresh or frozen chicken, beef or pork
* a couple of oranges or bananas or apples
* small jar of peanut butter and/or jam/honey
* package oatmeal - fresh or frozen brussel sprouts, broccoli, carrots, corn
* packaged almonds (we will divide up or put in a salad)
* small cartons of milk (whole and 2%)
* package peanuts
* toilet paper (1 roll helps)
* kleenex

We will use all items either in our daily hot TO-GO meal or in our 1x/week, Protein Bag of groceries that we deliver to their homes.

Staff is very short on the following items:
* plastic/rubber gloves (even one pair helps)
* hand sanitizer (if you have large bottles, pour some into a small container, label it and drop it off as the small bottles work very well for our delivery team)
* face masks (standard surgical, unused please)

Tammy will be waiting outside of our front doors with boxes labeled for individual items. Simply drive up and drop your items in the boxes or hand them to Tammy! We are located at 18560 1st Ave N, Building G, Shoreline WA 98155.

Ways to make cash donations:

* Drop a check in the mail or to Tammy, made out to Shoreline-LFP Senior Center
* On our website through Mobil Cause;
* Call our office # M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 12 noon, 206-365-1536

If you have friends that own a restaurant that has had to close its doors, let us know so that we can reach out to see if they have meat and/or produce to donate. Thank you so very much for assisting us in continuing Essential Services to our beloved seniors in Lake Forest Park and Shoreline. Every gesture is greatly appreciated, from the smallest to the grandest. The kindness of our community touches our hearts each day, as we see and learn of beautiful deeds being provided not only to our seniors but within each of our neighborhoods. We couldn't be in a better location to weather this storm, surrounded by love and goodness. May you be well and creating memorable moments with your families.

I've lived in Seattle since 1991, and held jobs at Microsoft, Expedia and my own few startups. I've taught a class on innovation at the UW Foster School of Business. I love Seattle and the greater Puget Sound region. I've got a wife, three kids and a dog, who, other than me, is by far the most difficult member of the household.
