Are you a friend or family member of a University of Washington employee?

If so, and if you want to help out essential employees who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle, this might be the job for you.

UW is looking for people to provide child care for employees who are “critical to providing care for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, researching cures and keeping our medical centers and University safely operating.”

The university has guidelines for pay, but you can also choose to volunteer your time.

Here are some other things to be aware of:

  • once you’re matched with a family, you’ll need to communicate with them directly to work out details (how many kids do they have? how many hours a day? etc.)
  • you may need to provide references or a criminal background check (no cost to you)
  • you need to be healthy
  • please do not apply if you regularly interact with anyone considered vulnerable (elderly, pregnant, or immunocompromised people)

If you have child care experience, this could be a great way to help out emergency workers and researchers who are working to stop COVID-19.
